  • Should we try to include the homes on the west side of the Ridge as members

Cost of party at the grange was $1600 We have $13342 balance in our bank account

Helen to send out request for $25 donation to residents

Erik will talk with West side ridge neighbors to ask if they want to join; participate in email communication and community get-togethers

Emergency Preparedness

Sirens vs Nixle

  • Concern with sirens/nixle and reliance on power
  • Consider old school siren/alert system

How to warn residents

  • Phone tree: Create our own phone tree system via text/call (App called Phone Tree)
  • If emergency, honk as you leave, make sure everyone turns on lights in the home to let other residents know who is awake
  • What do they do in Australia?
  • Prevention most important
  • Could we recruit local wineries? Matanzas?

How to know if Residents are warned and if they have already left residences

  • If power, residents leave lights on
  • Have flag or magnet for residents to keep in mailbox and can place on the outside when they leave

Carol will look into sirens/prices, etc Carol and Erik will be point people for Phone Tree app

Suzanne to send out contact list again and ask residents to update their phone numbers, or take them off the list if they are moving

Status of Ridge Cleanup

Number of properties cleaned up

  • 2-4-18?

Estimated completion date for ridge

  • April 9th is deadline for cleanup for private contractors
Helen will try to find out what is happening with Dan Southard’s property

Gary Johnson, captain of Sonoma County Fire will be speaking at next Glen Ellen community meeting

  • 3/5/18 at 6:30-7:30pm at Garden Court Cafe,
  • Defensible space, what to do for new builds

They have fire and safety committee

Most important is fire prevention and maintaining defensible space

Speeding trucks and trucks driving down center of roadway

Our roadways will need to be repaved due to the extensive numbers of trucks and machinery using them. What do we do, and how do we monitor?

Erik will send out email to residents with info if someone has damage and needs to file a complaint
Architectural Review

  • Consider water catchment systems to gather rainwater. Suggesting residents building new homes put in a private water tank
  • There is a resiliency permit. County is not notifying HOA’s.

Cannabis farms on the Ridge

Presented by Helen Sedwick:

  • Individuals may grow up to 6 plants at a time for their own use, but commercial cannabis farming is not permitted under current zoning.
Vacation rentals
  • Issue we will likely have to deal with in the future
  • There are currently 5 lots for sale on the ridge
Discussion of additional escape route on the ridge The Board is continuing to explore alternative exit routes
